Silver Bit & Spur Farm is proud to announce our new Dressage trainer, Lisa Schmidt.

Lessons may be taken on our horses.  Our horses range from Intro Level to FEI School Masters.

Lisa Schmidt is a successful Grand Prix competitor, having trained and shown her Danish Warmblood, Tristan, to Grand Prix. She also trained her current FEI mount, Ihorn who will be competing Grand Prix in 2004. In 2003 Ihorn had several wins at the Intermediare II level. In 2002, Ihorn was the Region 8 Reserve Champion at both Intermediare I and the Intermediare Freestyle. In 2001, Ihorn was Region 8 Fourth Level Champion, and placed eighth in Prix St Georges at Dressage at Devon. Lisa’s Dutch Warmblood mare, Kareena, was 1997 NA/WPN Reserve Champion for all Dutch mares in North America 3 to 7 years of age and was top ten in the breeding division at Devon in 1998 and is currently showing Fourth Level.  Lisa is also the breeder of the four year old gelding, Tristin, out of Kareena by the Hanoverian stallion Macho.

Lisa’s clients have been champions at local NY and NJ shows. In 2003, her student, Brooke Feldman, was sixth in the USDF Adult Amateur Horse of the Year award at Prix St Georges. In addition, she coached the 2001 Region 8 Young Rider Reserve Champion at Second Level and 2001 Region 8 Junior Rider Champion at Third Level. She also trained the 2000 Region 8 Adult Amateur Reserve Champion at First Level and the 2000 Region 1 Young Rider Champion at Prix St Georges who was also an alternate rider for the 1999 Region One Young Riders Team.

Currently training with Pan Am Games Silver medalist, Dr Cesar Parra, Lisa has also been a long time student of Canadian Olympic Bronze medalist, Ashley Holzer and two time Olympian and Bronze medalist, Hilda Gurney. In addition, she has trained with other American Olympians, Steffen Peters, Lendon Gray and Robert Dover and participated in clinics with German trainers, Rudolf Zeilinger and Karin Rehbein.

Lisa's teaching methods specialize in body coordination for the rider for better communication with the horse. She incorporates many off  the horse exercises to improve rider strength and flexibility as part of her training program as well as suppling, straightening and relaxation exercises for the horse.
